The Robinson Jeffers Newsletter began in 1962 as the publication of the Robinson Jeffers Committe, a group that had formed to promote the study of Jeffers and his work. Through issue 22 (August 1968), Melba Berry Bennett, Jeffers’s first biographer, edited RJN. After her death in the fall of 1968, Robert Brophy became the editor and served through its 100th issue. When the newsletter was expanded into Jeffers Studies in 1997, Professor Brophy became its founding editor. Throughout its life, RJN was hosted by Occidental College; Tyrus Harmsen, College Librarian and later Director of Occidental’s Book Arts Program, served as publisher.
The issues of the Robinson Jeffers Newsletter provided here are the only ones presently available electronically. The RJA is in the process of scanning the remaining issues, which will be added to this site as they become available.
