In 2010, the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA) declared that the 19th of May every year is to be the World Family Doctor Day (WFDD). It serves as an annual celebration of the key role of Family Doctors in delivering first contact, comprehensive, patient-centred, and continuous health care to patients in the community.
